For one, you know that transforming that space into a useable nook is also space efficient because you can use that cabinet for storing out of season items.

Aside from that, you know that for informal meals and nice chats, this will soon be the favorite spot of your family and friends. And personally, you know that it is a very intimate spot you can enjoy alone or with small company. It is different from the big dining table where you usually sit down for a meal. Since it offers you your own personal space for reading the newspaper, for doing crafts and for a cup of coffee, this place is unique. And for having a coffee with a friend who just dropped by for a chat or with your neighbor, this is the perfect place.

So, if you have an empty corner in your kitchen, this is the best place to have your nook. But you cans till have it with simple approximation even if you do not have that corner. All you have to do is to give your kitchen a good look and see if you can make a space for your nook by moving the furniture. By the window is the best place for a nook. Do not worry if you think that is not possible because you already have a cabinet above the window. You can simply have your nook in front of the window. This will not be a problem because you can actually move it to access your cabinets. Of course it is best to use those cabinets for the things that you do not use everyday, for your convenience. Now, depending on the style that you want and how big your space is, you can have a small nook with just two benches facing each other or you can have the typical corner nook with L shaped seating that are used commonly used in restaurants and diners.Between the two benches, place the table that matches your benches. But if you have a corner instead of a window, you can now have the usual corner nook with the L shaped seating. And, if you want to be more creative, you can use a triangular table. Place two bar stools next to the table in your corner.

Once you have decided to have that kitchen corner nook the first thing you have to do is to consider the look that you want it to have. Remember this is an opportunity for you to be the interior decorator. As stated earlier, the first thing that you have to do is to find the perfect location. The best thing of course, so that you can have a good view of the outside while enjoying a meal or coffee by your nook, is facing the window. The next best thing if you do not have a window, is the corner. So assess the surrounding and the layout of your kitchen. Any space where you can place a couple of chairs and small table will do if you do not have a place by the window or a corner. The technique here is that you create a focal point with the use of artwork, such as painting, if you do not have a window. The next thing to do after assessing your kitchen is to start measuring. So that you can find the furniture that fits into that space, measure the exact space you will be using. Next is to decide on the look or theme of your nook. You can choose the Victorian look, which is the most common, or anything that you want it to be. This is the best part since this is where you can give it your personal touch. Now, if you do not want a theme, you can simply base it on function. Will your nook be for breakfast, for simple coffee or for casual family meals? After you have decided, you can now get the perfect furniture that fits the function or the theme of your nook. Lastly, after you have placed the nook, give it a finishing touch with matching lighting or any other accent pieces.
